What is soul?
Soul is jeevamu, praanamu, atma,
It is the energy that is driving the body
It is like electricity driving an appliance/machine
In a dead body , the connection to the soul is lost , ie
soul has left
So the body stops working
Individual soul is jeevaathma, like local electric connection,
universal soul is paramaathma,
like whole electric grid , from which all local connections draw the power
atma , paramathma essentially are energy
जिवो ब्रह्मैव न परः
jiva (individual
or particularized consciousness etc.) is nothing but the Brahman.
