and the skin is the outermost, meant to protect, cover, --it's the nature's designed dress for all living beings 

and homosap being more intelligent is covering himself with a little more, rather much more than needed--clothes, footware, umbrellas, caps, 
and then a house with a roof, and compound wall, 
may be with a security guard/ watchmen/
a community compound wall , 
a municipal boundaries.
a city limits
a state borders
a nation, uniquely defined, 
with defense personnel ,with arms ammunition
living and owning the earth, in the galaxies, with sky as the ultimate limit 
so
the shell of man is so thick and complicated, 
he is the greatest of crab , take it or leave it 
and
