Silence is not just the Absence of External Sound…

  • Rishi Vasanth
Silence of the external sound is not easy to control

I can not just switch off the thunder in the sky,

    nor

the gushing noise of oceans waves

the rushing sound of the wild wind

    the roar of the lion,

    hissing of serpent,

    cawing of crow

    cooing of koel,

    tweeting of birds,

    humming of bees

Vasanth Sir - It is negating Japa -------------Ajapa Japa

Attempts has been made by practising shanmukhi mudra to keep external sounds at bay.
i.e Close your ears with the thumbs. Close your eyes with the index fingers and lips with the ring and little fingers. Take a deep breath in and then close your nostrils with the middle fingers.
While holding the breath inside, rotate your consciousness in the spinal column. With the vibrations of So descend from ajna to mooladhara, and with the vibrations of Ham ascend from mooladhara to ajna. Then release the breath. During this brief period of rest, practise self-awareness and mindfulness

Rishi sir there are times when even the deafening sound does not penentrate into your mind ........ even the loud thunder in the sky or the gushing waves in the ocean, rustling leaves in wind, roar of the lion, hissing of the serpent, cawing of crow, cooing of cuckoo, tweeting sound of birds, humming of bees will never make an impact to you i mean even YOU..... if you are confronted with the news of the death of the beloved. ........... It is all in the Mind .....Rishi sir ... i know you know it but like to pull my leg :) Enjoy pulling it :)

    But,
we are on st, with a bit of tarka
i am presenting a different drushti kon,
my suggestion is , you answer it, do not get distracted, no ill is intention, but to refine the presentation , a semi cooked will cause indigestion .
let's take things to ultimate truth, as for as possible.
i am giving enough clues in my posts, so that you can spin your fabric convincingly, instead of remaining, leaving it kacha pakka

take time ponder over my posts reply every point with a little more logic and analysis

'' even the deafening sound does not penentrate into your mind ........''

if so where is the need to ''just switch of the music system or I can lock myself inside a room or even go to a solitude place''

I agree with u. When there is real silence, there is no need to switch off the music system .... etc. All external sounds can go on and yet nothing disturbs that INNER SILENCE .... it feels as though all is in harmony ....... nothing disturbs/distracts. It is only when we TRY to go into silence then all external sounds become disturbing/distracting!!!!!!!!

    We do not hear silence
though we really want to hear

in every talk we seek silence
yet the talker gives out more noise than silence

The sound of the heartbeat is--- not --Anahata, the unstuck sound.
heart beat is aahath, it is it is stuck sound, muscles doing the beat

To here anahath “AUM” ------needs no extensive practice,

1 put your fingers in the ears , closing them to the external sound, you can here anahath aum, instantly, continuously, here there is no ahath, this is anahath naad

2 utter the letter ''o.........'' for a prolonged time, and at the end'' m'' of aum is heard, here too it is anahath

We always seek silence, not obsessed at all with sound .

We feel heroic by defeating silence-----there is no war we playing, silence cannot be destroyed by noise , silence is indefatigable , it is triumphant , since every noise is having a beginning and an entd, where as silence is a continuum , eternal, universal

The silence is audible clearly if the sound is the divine music or mundane buzz,
since silence is there at the beginning, end and along with noise .

''Silence is the most powerful way of communicating.''

------------then what is the need of this blogging and dialogging,

then we can be just silent

    no need of any book?

then only white paper can reveal all the wisdom?

why audio /lectures, music, why a tongue at all, then where is the need of ears

so deaf , dumb are the most elevated teachers?
because they are experiencing silence life long?

''Why is it important for a guru to teach in silence?''

but how is it possible to impart silence by guru without talking , and student not hearing him
    is it practical
Silence is not just the Absence of External Sound………………!
